About Me

Originally from Cornwall, I moved to the city life of Manchester three years ago when accepting my place at Manchester Art School. Since then I have converted from my usual past life as a "country bumpkin" and made that switch into a creative and ambitious city girl. Further education both in college and university has allowed me to develop my enthusiasm and continued to transform my attitude towards design. I learnt how to be innovative in everything I engage in and this has further determined my creativity as an individual. I enjoy all aspects of art, design and architecture but have a particular passion for current architectural trends and interiors. For more information contact Sarah Copas at sarahcopas@hotmail.co.uk

In my Spare Time...

Although predominately a designer, in my spare time I find time to continue my love of art.

I take my inspiration from several artists including Lucien Freud , John Constable and J.M.W Turner.

I do most of my painting for charity after being asked in 2006 by the CLIC Sargent Charity if i would donate one of my pieces to raise money.
I kindly accepted and for five consecutive years I have donated my work raising a total of £480.

Although still involved with charity work, since moving back to Cornwall I'v taken an interest in selling my work within the area.

Free Range Design Show- London 2010

After completing my final degree project i was lucky enough to be chosen to attend the 2010 Free Range Design Show in London to represent Manchester Art School.

The show allows new designer's from all over the country to exhibit work to the public and potential employers. It was an amazing opportunity for me to represent our University and what our course stands for.

Here are a few pictures of us setting up the exhibition...

Primarily my work attempts to explore the various levels in which spaces function and the interaction it has with its users. The contemporary and versatile approach to this project has allowed me to experiment with different textures, forms and materials.
The proposal of the project was to create a music venue based around the brand Apple Mac focusing mainly on the iTunes side of the brand.  The interior is remodeled around an old factory store and allows users to simultaneously interact with both the brand and the local music scene of Manchester. The space includes a bar, performance space, retail area and a VIP only area which allows the interior to keep the exclusivity of Apple. The venue is designed to transform itself during summer months into an indoor/outdoor performance area where interior of the building can be opened up using a hydraulic stage door.
